Canon's Cutting-Edge HD Camcorders

What's the big fuss about HD, anyway? In a nutshell, high definition essentially covers the range of 720 to 1080 pixel resolution in visual equipment. resulting in clearer, sharper images than ever before. Viewing home videos of events and activities on your HDTV or computer screens comes closest to reality when seen in high definition - definitely!

For generations, Canon has long been associated with cutting-edge camera technology. Canon continues to stay in the forefront with its exciting HD camcorders that are in the Canon Vixia line.

The most compact model in this line is the Canon VIXIA HF 200, which weighs less than 14 ounces and fits comfortably into your jacket pocket. You can operate it using a wireless remote control so it is very easy to record videos of yourself from a distance. Its Flash Memory technology allows you to record up to 6 hours' worth of videos to a removable SDHC, making it convenient to switch from one SD card to another. High color resolution at 3.89 Megapixels is equivalent to the EOS Series digital SLR cameras.

If you'd like to take it slow and are not ready to upgrade supporting equipment for higher-level HD camcorders, the Canon VIXIA HV40 is a good choice. It is a tape-based HDV model using MPEG2 MiniDV cassettes. It is one of the few models in its class that have been upgraded with the addition of the Native and Cinema 24p modes plus 30p Progressive mode that ensure you get HD resolution instead of blurred images.
